Lid-and-base: the classic two-piece. Simplest structure, lowest cost, fastest production — right for "open and see" food boxes like chocolate, tea or mooncakes. The trade-off is a ceiling on perceived luxury, which has to be lifted with finishes.
Book-style: opens sideways like a hardcover book with magnetic closure. Its biggest asset is display area — the opening panel is one continuous canvas for logo, artwork and slogan. Ideal for beauty sets, wine boxes and electronics where brand storytelling matters. Costs more than lid-and-base, but the unboxing ritual is far stronger.
Drawer (slide-out): pulls open like a drawer. The opening gesture itself is engaging — great for jewelry, small gifts and cultural products. The insert must fit the product exactly, or it rattles and ruins the experience.
Magnetic flap box: lid attached to the body, magnetic close. The smoothest to open and close — best for high-frequency use like tea caddy sets or keepsake boxes.
Rule of thumb: lid-and-base for value and volume, book-style for storytelling, drawer for playfulness, magnetic flap for daily use.
